Personal - Time keeps on tickin'...

Last night my daughter was playing a Wii game (My Sims) where you have to build these houses for these people in your town. One guy wanted an arcade before he'd move in. So off we went to build the house for him.

When we were done she asked me, “Daddy… What’s an arcade?”

I spent the next 30 minutes explaining to her that, no, we didn't have the Wii or XBox or computer games when I was her age, we went to the arcade and played video games.

The part about dropping quarters into the machine REALLY boggled her little mind.

Personal - An email exchange with my wife

Over the course of the last week or so…

Me: I want to buy a motorcycle.

Her: No.

Me: But we’ll save $X a month on gas!

Her: No.

Me: Here’s one on Craigslist.

Her: No.

Me: Here’s another one. Good price.

Her: No.

Me: Look! Here’s a really cool one! Cheap too! It’ll pay for itself in months!

Her: Have you ever driven a motorcycle?

Me: Well... no...

Her: Well....don't you think that would be the best thing to do FIRST?

Me: Well… yes… can I?

Her: No.

Personal - Santa@indiatechglobal.com

It's been a great couple of months in the my house. Every time the girl started to act up, I'd remind her that Santa was making his lists and it just takes one call from mommy or daddy to let the Big Guy know she was edging off the "nice" list. That would re-adjust her attitude.

Now he's made his rounds and there's little to hold over her head. In fact, she informed me yesterday in the midst of one of her tantrums that, "You can't just call Santa, daddy."

I corrected her and said, yes, you can indeed call Santa but the hold times make it difficult to get through since he outsourced his Naughty/Nice Processing Facility to India but I'd probably get through to him faster if I emailed him.

That gave her enough to think about that, for a while at least, she forgot what she was throwing her fit over.

Ahhh... peace on earth, indeed.

Personal - Holiday Road

Ahhh, the holidays....

Odd observation of the day: my Firefox is set up at home so I almost NEVER see an add on a website. When I travel and am forced to use IE, I realize how the rest of the world sees the web. As one large bilboard.

No sir, I don't like it.

Politics - Dubya has the largest nuts on the planet.

How big do your balls have to be to name October 1, 2007 "Child Health Day" and then turn around on October 3, 2007 and veto the SCHIP bill?

Gigantic ones, that's what!

Sports - How bout them Chiefs?

First win is the best win.

The Monster came up big, as I knew he would. 8 tackles. 2 sacks. 1 forced turnover.

My cousin and I went to Tanners to watch the game. It was great to just hang out and drink some beers again. However I'm reminded of just how old I really am when the little waitresses in very short skirts start talking about their 21st birthdays the weekend prior.

Those girls could be my daughters.

I stopped looking at them after that.

Personal - Next weekend...

Is Father's day and my lovely wife has given me permission to start a project I've wanted to do for a long time.

I'm going to build a boat!

I'll try to take pics and upload here as I go.

Personal - Rest well, G.O.M.

My godfather died.

I have to go to his funeral tomorrow.

He taught me what it meant to be a man, how to live up to my responsibilities, how to be a better friend. He did that all without ever telling me how to do it... he just lived that way.

He was a very faithful catholic and I hope that faith gave him comfort near the end.

I'll miss him terribly.
